If you’d prefer to watch Robert Joseph explain the book rather than read about it

The author (it’s short!)

Taster-1. Jules & Jacques

Jules & Jacques don't exist, but they are very like thousands of flesh-and-blood vignerons who do.
They make critically well-regarded wine which they sell successfully every year, but not for quite as much as they'd like or need.
Getting people to work in the vineyards is growing tougher all the time, and the increasingly unpredictable weather is making life harder too. They've never known floods and hail like this.
And, with no next generation that wants to do it, who's going to take over the domaine?

Taster-2. Cindy

Cindy, the celebrity with a wine brand doesn't exist, but Kylie, Graham Norton, Sarah Jessica Parker and Snoop Dogg all have successful brands and excite controversy from purists who think wine should be bought purely on the basis of its quality and (maybe) value for money.

But for many (most?) wine shopping is complicated and daunting, so choosing something in that forest of labels that's associated with a person one likes/admires/identifies with seems pretty understandable.

Taster-3. Edward

Edward, the environmentally-conscious wine drinker doesn't exist. but he represents a growing number of people who care about a wide range of ‘green’ issues ranging from climate change to biodiversity and pollution.

And, quite frankly, they’re often confused about which products they should be buying. What do terms like ‘sustainable’, ‘organic’, ‘natural’ and regenerative all mean? Do they mean the same thing in different countries
